Frequently Asked Questions About Dry Fog Sterilization
Q: What is the process for applying dry fog to a home or business?
A: Before we fog, we ensure that the room has humidity below 50%. The dry fogger is then run for 45-90 minutes. Using humidity gauges we can tell when our sterilization solution has saturated the room to 65%. This is the EPA minimum requirement for the kill. We let the fog dwell in the facility for ten minutes. Before venting the fog, we flush the sterilant fog through the air handling system to take care of anything hiding in vents or ducts. We then air out the facility through windows, door, vents etc.
Q: What about my pets, can they stay in the house while you fog?
A: We fog one room at a time. Pets can’t be in the room while we fog. But once we are done and the room is aired out they can return to that room. If we do the whole house it is possible to move from room to room, but it may be easier to take your pets somewhere else. It’s up to you.
Q: What about my furniture and electronics?
A: Furniture and electronics are safe to stay put. The Dry Fog technology used by EnviroPure doesn’t get anything wet, and the chemicals we use will not damage furniture, electronics, paint, or porous surfaces. Our chemicals have been used for years from medical settings, clean rooms, homes, autos, and commercial settings without any negative effects.
Q: How long does it take?
A: It all depends on the size of the job. A typical 2,000 square foot space take about 3 hrs to fog and then about an hour to air out, so total of 4 hours. EnviroPure can typically do a whole house in a day.
Q: Is it harmful to adults, children, or babies?
A: Our dry fog solution is non-toxic and very safe. It is not dangerous to people of any age. We use two chemicals—parecetic acid and hydrogen peroxide. Both chemicals are EPA approved and have a flawless track record. The EPA approves releasing these substances into the atmosphere or even dumping down the drain after application.
Q: Will it take the appearance of mold away?
A: Unfortunately it will not take the appearance of mold away. Our independent lab will verify that the mold has been killed, but the appearance will still be there. We have some suggestions that will help alleviate the appearance, once the mold has been killed.
Q: What do I need to do before EnviroPure, LLC comes to my home or business?
A: If we are coming for mold remediation, there is one thing that needs to be corrected before we come. The source of water that started the mold problem needs to be fixed. It doesn’t make sense to kill the mold if the source isn’t fixed first.
